This December has gone a little crazier than I could have ever expected, and I know it’s been the same for most of you. In between making time for friends, family and that last push to get work done before the holidays, gifting can fall to the bottom of your list.
No worries, there’s still time to save! Here are my top 3 ways to cash in on a few deals for last-minute gifts.
1. Take advantage of shipping discounts.
Your biggest added cost is probably going to be the expedited shipping fee. Use a service like ShopRunner, which is free for American Express cardholders, or your Amazon Prime account to get free 2-day shipping. On top of that, some stores are still offering free or discounted shipping to help you get it all before the holidays.
2. Take a look at discount code sites or browser extensions before you check out.
There’s are sales and savings events going on throughout December – not just the beginning of the month. You just have to know where to look. A few months back, I tried out “Honey,” the Google Chrome extension. It instantly tries out all known discount codes once you get to the checkout page. If there is one, it’ll try it and stick with the one that gives you the biggest discount. Don’t want to download something? A quick click-over to Retailmenot.com. The dedicated store page will let you know if there’s an online code or in-store coupon to help you out.
Is the gift you want sold out everywhere?
3. Try an unexpected spot like your local warehouse store (think Costco or Sams Club) or even Jet.com.
It seems like most people in their 20s forget there are gift options at the same place you stocked up on cookies and ramen in college. Need a camera, gift card, Bluetooth headset or even an electric blanket? They’ve probably got it in stock still, and for a cheaper price than most department stores. And if you don’t want to take the trip down there, simply bring up the item on your phone and most stores will price match it.
Good luck, everyone! If you need ideas on what to get, check out my recent gift guides below, dedicated Pinterest board or leave a comment below. I’ll make sure to answer.
