It’s almost the end of the holiday season, which means we’re running out of time! If you haven’t finished your shopping just yet, let alone wrapped it all, you’re not the only one. You can still find something awesome before that last present leaves the shelves.
Here are my top 3 tips to help you find something great for everyone left on your list.
Go for the Subscription.
We talked about this in my last gift guide.
When you decide to get someone a subscription or a gift card toward one, it can have multiple benefits. Not only does it allow you to shop last minute, because you’re essentially printing a gift certificate, but it’s something they’ll love for well beyond one night. Most importantly, there are multiple sites and stores devoted to subscription packages. Yes, I mean places like FabFitFun as well as Rent the Runway, Birchbox and Box of Style. (Who can say no to all this designer products for an affordable price point?) But, you can also get gift subscriptions on Groupon (yay discounts!) and sites like CrateJoy devoted to these monthly gifts. If you can think it, there’s probably a subscription box for it.
Make a Themed Gift Basket.
Know what they like but not sure what to pick or need to stay on a lower budget? This is the way to do it without needing to run to every store. You simply pick a fun topic you would like to receive, such as a “Girl’s Night: gift, desserts bar, wardrobe re-do or relaxing Sunday. My favorite is when you build on an accessory.
For example, does your best friend love all things Balmain? You can make a gift basket for under $100 that includes a $65 travel gift set, their new Balmain X L’Oreal lipsticks and a fun framed image that matches the brand (i.e. one you printed from Etsy or Art.com and put in a Michael’s frame, because time.) Then, put it all in a black tote that complements their style.
This brings me to my next and more time-saving point.
Think of Something They Love and Add to It.
This is one of those gift ideas that comes from the heart, shows how well you know the person and you can easily figure out by looking at their Instagram.
For example, let’s say all your friend talks about is Zac Posen. (His style is just dreamy.) I just saw a black, medium ZAC Zac Posen bag for $199.99 at T.J. Maxx. (Love that store and it’s discounts!) You can find the mini versions for even cheaper. Think $130. She’ll probably love t and he fact that you were paying attention.
Does your person love all things kitsch? Take advantage of Kate Spade’s current 30 percent off sale items for a few cute gift ideas.
Do they love all things Instagram? Give them a camera extension with a remote so they can take the best shots. Or, complement their passion with cool props for their next shoot.
Do they have a thing for rosé? Pick up a fun wine split box (I.e the mini bottles), two personalized glasses and some rose gold accents.
This is the type of gift that doesn’t look like you bought it last-minute and may just be their favorite.
Still Can’t Think of Anything?
I know the feeling. So, I’ve come up with a few ideas on my latest Pinterest board to help you out.
Bonus: The key to getting the perfect present on a tough timeline is knowing your budget, the person’s taste and the last shipping date before you click purchase. For most brands, it either passed or it’s tonight with overnight shipping option selected. Sorry! For that reason, I would do in-store pickup, when possible. Also, here are more ways to save on that last-minute purchase.
Good luck and happy shopping, everyone!
