The ERDEM X H&M collection officially drops tomorrow, Nov. 2, and I can’t wait! Those of you who have been through this type of designer release before know, it’s go time.
Whether you call in sick and physically line the street in front of your local store or plan to wait impatiently in front of a screen (because, life), there’s always a rush of excitement. Each collection includes high-end designer brands that most people (who don’t know my shopping secrets) usually covet from afar. Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, Balmain, Versace, Karl Lagerfeld and Kenzo, are just a few labels to come through these doors at a fraction of their typical price tag. In the world of Hennes & Mauritz, the barrier to entry drops to a few hundred dollars, at most, making it low enough for the average buyer to get in on the action. (You know how much I love getting designer goods for less! )
To get you prepped for tomorrow, H&M recently unveiled the lookbook of their latest collaboration with ERDEM. Like every year, they included some pieces you’d only wear once, if that, and some staples. To make tomorrow easier, I’ve gone through the entire collection and selected which will have more use in your wardrobe. Here are my top picks. (All photos courtesy of H&M.)
For those of you who don’t know, ERDEM is a British-based, luxury ready-to-wear brand filled with feminine silhouettes and a little edge. My favorite way to describe it is founder Erdem Moralioglu’s quote to Vogue: “I rebel with lace and tulle.” Each collection complements the last with bold prints, a whimsical palette, unique watercolors and simply fun clothes that grab your attention. Catch their latest spring runway show, here.
This collection was no different and absolutely gorgeous! It’s for someone who likes the dramatic stylings of Dior, Gucci and Chanel without the need/ability to drop thousands on a new wardrobe. If you’re looking for statement pieces to bring in your favorite trends as well as push you to go outside of your comfort zone, this is it!
For the rest of you, you’re probably thinking, “These are trend pieces, why in the world would I wear them for more than a season?”. Think of it this way, staples like a white button down, tweed jacket or gray blazer (shown above) will stay in your wardrobe rotation no matter what. However, you may also get tired of wearing the same, solid piece everyday. Because of that, you’ll easily jump to floral pieces like these to break things up.
That first dress and shoes can become your statement party look. The long dress with a ruffled hem will be lovely to wear on a spring afternoon, no matter what your doing. And, let’s face it, why wouldn’t you wear an ERDEM hoodie or those cute slip-ons?
Yes. The prices still range from $29.99 to $299. It’s not something to take lightly. It’s an investment that only makes sense if you have the funds, flexibility to spend it and it works for your style. This is why I’m showing them to you now, so you have one last chance to run the numbers before it’s time to checkout. The last thing you want is to be deliberating over a purchase when it sells out.
Still not sure if this collection is for you? Here’s a look at these pieces on real people.
Love these H&M looks taken by Photographer Michal Pudelka? There’s also a short film at this same location by Baz Luhrmann. See it for yourself, here.
I know you can’t wait to shop tomorrow, so it’s time for me to share a few tips on how to get what you want.
1. Be at the store or online early! I mean at least 20 minutes with a good internet connection for online and hours for in-person. Last year, for Kenzo, not everything sold out within minutes, let alone hours. But that has been the issue in the past. Do you want to risk it?
2. Know what you want to buy ahead of time. Then, you can make a beeline for the products as soon as the collection is released.
3. Know your size. It doesn’t help to have the item you want in-hand if it’s two sizes too big. (Need help? Here’s the size guide.)
It all goes down online at 8:00 am EDT and in select stores.
Good luck, everyone, and happy shopping! Come back next Thursday for more style tips, tricks and savings.
