It’s Fashion Week! There’s nothing better than seeing a new looks, styles and accessories coming your way. Sure, affording a $5,000 coat probably isn’t in the cards right now. But, every detail gives you new inspiration to put towards your wardrobe and pieces to look for in the sale section.
We spent the last two weeks looking over every top trend and style from New York, Paris and London fashion weeks for Fall 2017. Now, it’s time for a final look at the top looks and colors to upgrade your wardrobe, for less.
Just a Drop of the Rainbow
Red has been a statement color for its vibrancy and power, but these Fall outfits take things a step further. Head-to-toe red looks strutted down a seemingly endless stream of shows.
Purple followed just behind it with standout pieces like sequin tops, trench coats and leather skirts. The boldness of this royal tone definitely added a sense of glamour to the runways.
But, what makes these hues trends and not just a color choice, is the style of every outfit they were on.
For example, a red bell sleeve top is more fashion-forward than a faded red tee from the back of your closet. The former has an unexpected, trendy element. Even pairing that purple dress from last year with a logo belt or micro bag can help make it fit the season. Simply take what you own and add to it with different accessories.
Here are a few pieces for under $300 to get you started in these hues.

All About the Details
Whether it’s pearls, sequins, vintage florals or fur, every little detail was brought into the light for fall. What does this mean? Two things: you have a bunch of different styles to choose from and It’s time to play around with mixed designs.
Fashion is about experimentation with your clothes and look. Now you have no reason not to try those Charlotte Olympia pearl-detailed shoes with a double-breasted suit or to check out a sequin-covered graphic tee. Why not take on the mixed print trend and wear a floral skirt with a check top? If you feel like channeling Givenchy, you can even wear a logo shirt with a red veil and matching floor-length skirt.
Sure, that last one was a little extreme for every day wear, but you get my point.
Here are a few pieces to get you started. (Note above disclaimer.)
As I hinted at above, it’s time to put a twist on your favorite, timeless pieces.
Trench coats have been seen everywhere from military uniforms to the Gossip Girl and Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca. The longer coat and literal button-up look adds a sense of style to even casual wear. (I’ve been known to throw mine one with jeans and t-shirt.) Suddenly, you have a cinched waist to show off your curves, a solid tone to give you that one-color look, without trying, and a high collar to play with. Burberry, alone, is known for this outerwear!
Suits carry the same “wardrobe staple” title for anyone who has ever gone on an interview. They add a sense of formality and purpose with every stitch. When tailored correctly, it can even make you feel powerful. Now, they’re making a comeback in all the best ways. Yes, you can re-use the one from your first interview days.
One more thing, break out those midi skirts. No I don’t mean maxi or poodle skirts. These fall between your mid-calf and knee just enough length to save you from a windy Marilyn Monroe moment. You may even have a pleated one in your closet right now.
But what makes these trends so special? It’s not just the same color block style or pleats anymore. Now it’s time to have some fun with mixed prints, fur trim, double-breasted buttons, wider-leg pants, a slit or two and various textures. Forget what you knew about these basics.
Here are a few new versions to love for under $300. (Note above disclaimer.)
