Growing up, Macy’s was the place to go for everything from shoes to cookware. That iconic red star easily shown past every other store in the mall. Now, that’s not always the case, but I had a craving to go to the Herald Square location recently and am so glad I did. Protected like a secret within the center of the women’s department was a display for luxury, New York-based fashion designer, Yigal Azroüel.
Haven’t heard of him? You’ll want to when you hear that his collections are sold everywhere from SHOPBOP to Nordstrom and Saks for price tags of up to $1990 for a modern, floral, embroidered dress with a flirty sheer hem and $2990 for an elegant, leaf-print trench coat.
Now, he has a collection made exclusively for Macy’s and your budget. Bringing his trandmark feminine silhouettes and structured designs, each piece has a unique sense of flair to remix your wardrobe. This, comes from the designer’s love of travel as well as the brand aesthetic’s inspiration in “everything and everywhere: art, culture, architecture, nature and above all, [Yigal’s] hometown- New York City,” according to the label’s Facebook page.
A delicate yet equally bold color palette of black, blush, pale blue and and white highlight the “Y Yigal” branded looks with a not-so-average design. Think modern, floral lace on a bomber jacket, trend-friendly wide-leg pants, cold-shoulder tops fit for spring, plus leather and illusion details to give it a little edge. My favorites online are the contrast lace fit-and-flare dress and printed sleeveless blouse.
