It’s finally Fall! The wind/rain may make your a signature hairstyle a little difficult to pull off but nothing says you can’t still have an awe-inspiring wardrobe! For me, it all starts with the shoes!
You can wear all-black (AKA my uniform some days) and just the addition of printed shoes can make your outfit street-style worthy. Here are the top 5 shoe styles you won’t want to live without this season.
Lace-up those heels.
These aren’t just for summer. Add a fun tight or some printed socks and you’re ready to turn this warm-weather staple into your new fall asset!

Say hello to the soft side of Velvet.
Welcome back to the 90s – where velvet rules alongside your new favorite choker and Lisa Frank-inspired accessories. Velvet is just one of those fabrics that are insanely difficult to clean and not so easy to style, but that’s why I’m here to make things easier! Use a preventative spray (like you would for suede) to keep these little cuties in tact. Then, if you’re new to pairing it with your wardrobe, start with something simple like a dark denim jean and striped top . The shoes will do the street-style talking for you.
Not sure where to start on finding your perfect pair? I have a few ideas for every taste:
Add a stitch of embroidery to the mix.
Threaded details are not just for your grandmother’s handkerchiefs. A natural progression from the patchwork skirt and patch-covered denim jacket trend, embroidery can add a whimsical yet feminine touch to your look with little effort. I love the idea of wearing embroidered booties with a menswear-inspired look for some added flair.
To make finding the right one easy, here are a few options made for your budget:
Urban Outfitters bootie boots, $98 (top right) / ASOS bootie boots, $75 (top left) / Topshop strappy sandals, $65 (bottom, middle) / River Island black shoes, $150 (center) / Navy Velvet Embroidered Slipper, $15 (right, middle)/ ASOS slip-on floral shoes, $38 (bottom, right) / Go Jane Red pumps, $25 (left, middle and bottom)
Put a twist on those loafers.
Remember my best buy from DSW? You know from that purchase and Gucci’s fan-favorite loafer heels that this borrowed-from-the-boys trend isn’t going away any time soon. If you haven’t embraced these tassel-accented shoes yet, now may be the time to pick them up. But, if you have champagne taste and a burger budget, like me, that can be difficult.
Here are a few pairs to make shopping a little easier. (I especially love the gold pair!)
River Island silver shoes, $100 (top, middle) / Fergie leather shoes, $60 (top, right) / But Another Innocent Tale gold pumps, $68 (top, left) / ModCloth Grey pumps, $60 / ASOS slip-on shoes, $57 (bottom, right) The added tuff of faux fur make these especially fashion-forward. / LEREN MOCASSINS IN SLINGBACKSTIJL – Alles bekijken-SCHOENEN-DAMES |…, $67 (bottom, left)
Pick up a little leopard and slay.
Nothing says you have style or a courageous side like taking on a difficult trend and making it work for you. Leopard is one of these styles. There are tons of cheap leopard-print pieces in stores at any given time, but making them look good is the real challenge. In this case, it helps to spend a little more money (if you can) to find quality shoes that worn require as much work to style.
So, I’ve included my top picks ranging from $78 to $149.
Velvet high heel shoes, $149 (bottom, right) / Urge West Leather Oxford Shoe, $140 (top, right) / Dune block shoes, $85 / Office party shoes, $78 (top, left) / River Island brown loafer, $110 (middle, left)
Now for the important stuff: Which style is your favorite?!
