Nothing gets you inspired like a mini, movie marathon!
This past week’s up-and-coming designer mini series had to be put on hold (I’m still working on getting the best details for you!), but there’s no reason to postpone some serious style inspiration. For me, that comes from cuddling on the couch and taking in a showing of all my favorite fashion and magazine-inspired flicks.
Of course, you know the “Devil Wear’s Prada” will be one of them. It’s a staple! (Because who can resist Meryl Streep’s confident sass or the incredible style transformation Anne Hathaway takes on?!) But can you guess the other 4?
1. How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days
I know, I almost forgot about this one too. At the heart of this sweet love story is a a how-to article on avoiding all the common mistakes women make at the beginning of relationships. Andy Andersen (Kate Hudson) focuses her fashion magazine’s monthly column on just that, only to end up falling in love with Ben Barry (Matthew McConaughey), instead. This one may be from 2003 but great style is timeless.
2. The Devil Wears Prada
This is journalism and your first job out of college at it’s finest. Like Anne Hathaway, we usually end up somewhere completely different than what we went to school for and yet, it makes us all the better for it. In this case, this stepping stone of an experience comes with a dream wardrobe, your favorite actors and an inside look at how those star-studded monthly books are put together. (There are even peaks of your favorite Queen and Witch).
3. Confessions Of a Shopaholic
Not going to lie, The Girl in the Green Scarf’s words actually gave me some inspiration for a few pieces at my college newspaper. She makes the concepts behind being fiscally responsible seem very easy to understand and replicate. The only thing is, she also has a shopping habit. You probably wouldn’t be reading this blog if you didm’t love shopping too, but problems like these are the reason why I like to put great style in terms of your budget. Watch this flick to get inspired by some gorgeous outfits, quirky situations and financial success.
4. Sex & The City
This movie requires little introduction as we all know Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Mirada plus took the quiz to see who we relate with more. (I’m alway caught between Carrie and Charlotte!) Since Carrie is a columnist, this movie also fits in perfectly with our list! The fashion, the glamour and her piece in Vogue – who can resist that?!
5. The September Issue
If you ever wondered what goes into putting together your favorite fashion magazine, this is it! Step behind-the-scenes in this documentary and witness Anna Wintour and Vogue’s journey to make the most coveted issue of the year. It’s not an easy job to become the most influential person in the fashion and magazine industries but she does it flawlessly. #lifegoals.
You have the list. Now all that’s left is to sit back, relax and enjoy. Then, think of all the fun ways you can remix your wardrobe!
Happy Sunday, everyone!
