So let’s start with the fact that this Fashion Week has been absolutely crazy so far! Tom Ford is back on the runway, Tommy Hilfiger took over Pier 16 with a carnival/runway Show and Rebecca Minkoff shut down Greene Street to have a fashion show in front of its SoHo store.
Here’s my opinion on the latest RM designs plus all the details on how I met the brand’s namesake fashion genius for a moment!
Fall 2016 Collection – Add some edge to your wardrobe.
Mixing punk-inspired accents with feminine details is not easy to pull off, but like always, Rebecca Minkoff rocked it!
Beau, a live band, set the scene as the latest collection lined Greene Street with leather skirts, knee-high boots, velvet booties and flowy floral dresses. Wool coats with everything from a leopard print design (because yes, that’s back again!) to a multicolor fur interior added to the fall-ready looks alongside statement crossbody bags with scarf-like handles. Sheer, gold-detailed, black tops and dresses also caught my attention among the beautiful designs. (There was even one gold-accented, black maxi dress with a grand, overlapping slit on the front and standout mini skirt underneath!).
Of course, there were even more surprises to keep you interested. Bloggers, including Chriselle Lim from The Chriselle Factor and Arielle Nachmani from SomethingNavy, walked the show in between gorgeous models! Together with Rebecca Minkoff herself, they all closed the catwalk presentation with bold indigo or black leather jackets draped across their shoulders. Each was detailed with fun pins on the collar plus hashtag worthing sayings hand-painted on the back. Some included, “I ‘HEART’ NY,” “Love Is Love,” “Be the Light,” “Unite,” “We Are One,” and “Be Love.” Each “E” was drawn to look like an equal sign.
Non-invited guests watched the whole scene unfold from behind barricades across the street. (Want to see it all for yourself? Watch the show on the Rebecca Minkoff homepage, then shop the collection here.)
Afterward, the party moved inside to the Rebecca Minkoff SoHo store location so everyone could fill their closets with the new pieces! #RunwayToRetail
Inside the SoHo Store Event – I met Rebecca Minkoff!
By the time I got there, which was just after my 1pm RSVP, the line went from the store entrance to just about the end of the block! I waited over 40 minutes in line but it was well worth it.
As soon as I walked in, there was a touch-screen mirror where you could see all of the latest looks. Right across from the screen was the whole collection! That’s right – jackets, ribbed dresses, striped tops, booties and all!
After snapping a few pictures (see them below!), I found out Rebecca Minkoff was taking photos with guests and immediately got in line.
There, I got to meet a fellow blogger, the VIP RM fashion show ticket winner who came all the way from Boston, and after waiting in a shorter line – Rebecca Minkoff herself! (She as well as Chriselle and Arielle were all giving meet-and-greets!) Of course, I was more than excited! When I found out she was signing product, I quickly got out of line, bought a clutch for $95 and got her signature!
If I had $998 more to spend, I would have gotten a limed edition leather jacket and tried to get that signed, as well. But, I did get something pretty awesome…..
…because I paid with an Amex, I also got a swag bag! In fact, it looks pretty similar to the one each fashion show VIP received.
Want a goodie bag for yourself? Spend $50+ with your Amex in-store at the NYC location today. You can take one home – while supplies last.
Whether you decide to go or not, here’s a peak from inside the store event:
