Can you believe it’s going to hit 90 degrees Fahrenheit this week?! There’s nothing worse than that feeling of exhaustion when it’s just too hot out and you don’t want to move. A margarita/your favorite lemonade can only do so much, after all!
So, I’m dedicating part two of this summer trend guide to helping you stay cool and look chic! Here are four styles your going to love this season:
Off the Shoulder Tops
As long as you have sunscreen and a good bra, this trend can be a lifesaver! Throw it over your bathing suit at the beach or dress it up with your favorite skirt for a surprising look on date night. The varied styles and prints are far more sophisticated than those random tanks you usually put on. (Think about it: you show just enough skin to stay cool but keep your best assets hidden for that chic and comfortable look.) I love the idea of these tops! (If you have a larger upper body, you may want to use double-stick fashion tape to make sure you’re not tugging on it all day long.)
Pixie Market Spaghetti strap top / Bardot blue off the shoulder top, $77 / House of Holland denim crop top, $72
Slides (Casual Sandals)
Forget flip-flops! I’ve never been a fan of them or the uncomfortable feeling of its thong between my toes. If you’re like me, you’ll be happy to see this updated trend in your closet! They can be great for those days when you’re just running around, want an upgrade to a poolside look or need to recover from those heels you wore last night.
Dolce Vita slip-on shoes, $60 / Ann Taylor suede shoes, $69.88 / NIKE beach shoes, $72
Need something with a little bit more structure? Switch things up with espadrille flats. (I love the look of Soludos!) They were big for spring and may give you a little more support.
Say it with Ruffles
Whether you’re looking to combine trends or just want to add an interesting element to an otherwise simple look, ruffles can be the way to go. (Plus, depending on the size, they pickup and can create a little breeze when you twirl, lol.) Here are a few you’ll want to see.
Miss Selfridge short white dress, $35 / Miss Selfridge top, $53 / See by Chloé short skirt, $82 / Alter white jumpsuit, $55 (This one has culottes as the bottom so you can combine three trends in one – a jumpsuit, riffles and culottes!)
Return of the Peplum
Yes, they’re officially are back and you probably already have a few in your closet! (Dior even had a few peplum pieces yesterday in its couture Fall 2016 show!) So, break out your feminine, structured tops and twirl-worthy skirts. Need to refresh your closet? Here are a few new pieces to love:
True Violet peplum dress, $71 / Paper Dolls navy dress, $71 / Banana Republic sleeveless top, $68 / Stortets “Pradaish” Striped Skirt, $65
You know I’m not done! Please share this post if you liked it and come back tomorrow for more summer trends to love.
