For me, it’s no surprise that this collection debuted around the same time as the opening of “Alice: Through the Looking Glass.” With bold red checkerboard patterns, sophisticated midi skirts and elaborate embroidery, it looks like a whimsical surprise you would see while strolling through Wonderland. Even better, Karl Lagerfeld was the lead creative behind it. I cannot get enough of this collection!
Here are all the details you should know about the line that’s caused countless buzz all over social media, including how it compares with the previous line.
The Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear line brought a chic mix of delicate ruffles, wave-patterned details, fur and embroidered flowers all in a series of warm tones – including gold!
This season reflected Lagerfeld’s vision for fall with more eye-catching looks in red, black, white, yellow, taupe and blue as well as a few continued motifs.
Waves of color covered the hems of longer skirts and fun stripes on shorter frocks. Even one of the tailored jackets had a wave patten closure that would make the simplest summer look appear chic! If it wasn’t crafted with these details, items such as an off-the-shoulder floral jumpsuit, high-waisted shorts and a one-shoulder peplum top represented them with bold ruffle accents. Luckily, ruffle details have been hot for a few months so this style may be easier to replicate.
Of course, my favorites are the red and white outfits. They remind me of Red Queen, but, according to Women’s Wear Daily, they were inspired by American quilts. The series of rectangular patches with varied patterns only leads me to agree! The one look I want above all is the fifth, which reinvents the classic style of red and white stripes with thin contrasting lines and a bold fur stole.
Want a similar look for yourself? You won’t believe this! Eva Mendes’s collection with New York & Company includes a red and white printed skirt with the same quilt-like design.
Looking for something more refined and classic in style? The eighteenth look is a collared taupe dress that combines femininity with edgy style. It includes a modern skirt that stops just above the knee and statement buttons. Did I mention the grand pockets accents that look like they can fit an iPad, let alone your smartphone? With the mini purse trend on the rise, this can be the perfect dress style to keep your eye out for.
