It’s finally starting to feel like Spring and you know what means – time to break out those flowing skirts and chic sleeveless tops from your closet! Thankfully, it’s also prime-time for sales!Stripes and of course florals are still in style, but there are a few more trends coming out as well. Whether you’re looking for something new or just a fun way to restyle what you already have, I have you covered. Here are all the best trends for spring at a budget-friendly price of $100 or less!
Let’s Start with the Bomber Jacket.
Silk bomber jackets have been blowing up over the past few weeks. (Think your high school letterman jacket reinvented with sophisticated fabric and maybe a few patches.) Don’t want to spend all the money on silk? Satin and other fabrics give the same look without a higher price tag. Here’s an few options plus how to style them.
Whistles spaghetti strap dress, $73 / St John cream tank top / Silence Noise lined jacket / ASOS zip jacket / Andrew Gn zipper shorts / Cape Robbin block-heel pumps / Mini crossbody, $10 / Stacking rings jewelry, $50 / Red jewelry, $50 / Semi rimless glasses
Give them the Cold Shoulder
Yes, it’s back again! Cut-outs along your shoulders are becoming trendy as we get ready for warmer, summer months. Odds are you already have something like this hiding in your closet. If it’s a flowy top or something with a bold detail like the blue Zara shirt shown below, pair it with either a lighter, skinny-leg pant or a pencil skirt. The mix of dimensions will make you look chic and tailored.
Don’t forget that students get 10 percent off ASOS and Boohoo has their savings nights going on (with 50 percent off)!
Keep things Polished with Monograms
During fashion month, there were tons of fashionistas and models in jackets with embroidery along the back (think the best friends jackets that went viral), monogrammed tops and purses with their initials stitched along the front.
Get embroidered letters from a local craft store and sew it into a jacket or small purse. It will look similar (if not the same) and save you a few bucks.(I recommend sewing into something cheaper such as a jacket from Forever 21. That way, you won’t lose too much money if you’re sewing skills need some improvement.)
Here are a few inspiring pieces to help you decide:
WithChic bomber coat, $76 / New balance sneaker / J Crew leather handbag, $98 and available for monogram / Madewell leather purse / Kate spade watch / Kate Spade engraved ring, $33 / Anya Hindmarch office accessory, $50
If you want things a little cheaper, remember J.Crew and Kate Spade have factory stores.
Get the Party Started with Some Ruffles
We talked about this one back when I covered the grandma trend. Since the change in diplomatic relations with Cuba, I’ve seen a ton of designers and stores start their own “Cubana Cool” campaigns. That comes with an influx of tropical prints and of course, ruffled details. Use this to your advantage and beat the incoming heat with off-the-shoulder ruffles or a fun top. Any outfit with this accent will bring out an unexpected twist.
Flutter sleeve top / J.Crew shirt / MANGO flutter sleeve top, $26 / Jump suit / See by Chloé white skirt, $89 / Kate spade sandals
Need more? Pixie Market has two of these ruffled pieces for much more and at decent pricing. Sale is up to 70 percent off right now!
“Shine Bright Like A Diamond”
In this case, Rihanna’s song, “Diamonds,” comes with a fashion-forward trend. Popsugar caught the trend of metallics and shimmer for Spring and I’m loving it! As you know from my Easter post, I love to mix in metallic accents with solid colors.
Don’t want to go out and buy something new? You can still highlight the trend with a pair of metallic shoes or fun layered jewelry that you already have. It will make you shine without burning up your paycheck.
Want to fully embrace the trend and wear all metallics? Here are a few pieces that can help. (My favorite are the silver shoes!)
Badgley Mischka beige dress (rental) / Bundy Webster screen print t-shirt, $41 / Polyester shirt, $25 / Oasis white camisole, $55 / River Island faux leather skirt, $17 / Mid-heel shoes, $69 / Steve Madden slip on sneaker / Zara flat shoes / Dune handbags purse, $35 / Zara bag / Accessorize metallic purse / Full Tilt silver cuff bracelet / Monki office accessory, $5.67
Note: Rent the Runway is about to have their sample sale so you may get the gold dress in your closet permanently and for a good price.
Switch Things Up with Straw Accessories.
One thing I’ve noticed over the past few weeks is a slew of straw accessories. Coco Chanel started her business by designing straw hats so I’m more than excited to see this one! In fact, I already picked up a woven black hat from J.Crew (shown above) that is currently on sale for 50 percent off ! to commemorate the trend.
Now, you have everything you need to step out in style this Spring! Please share this post if you liked it. I know how hard it is to find pieces you love for less and want to help as many people as possible.
Want more? Leave me a note in the comments section – I can always write a second post and love new inspiration.
Happy Fri-YAY, everyone!
P.S. The outfit I’m wearing just cost me the price of the hat. Everything else was already in my closet. It’s always possible to stay on-trend and on-budget!
