It’s time to break out that Karl Lagerfeld planner because these events are worth jotting down. Everything from a fashion job expo to in-store events and exhibits are happening in New York, New Jersey and online over the week. Your calendar is about to get filled! Here’s where to start.
Cynthia Rowley Sample Sale – March 10 to 13, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
I love this brand because, no matter which way my weight is fluctuating that month, the clothes fit well and have sophisticated style. Neoprene pieces, activewear, denim and chic sunglasses are all on sale in the very back of the 376 Bleecker Street location. Think $89 shift dresses, $39 tops and $49 bottoms. Prices range up to about $10 extra for each item, or up to $99 for jeans, but if you like the label, it’s worth a peak.
Macy’s – Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m.
Now this is a fun way to welcome the new Spring-worthy weather! The department store’s “Get Glam and Get Going” event features lipstick readings for your fashion future, personal style advice on spring trends and of course a D.J. at the Herald’s Square location. You know going will be worth it because professional stylist and fashion expert, Samantha Brown, is the host! For an extra perk, Macy’s “MyStylist” will also be on-site to help you pick out a new look or the perfect gift. You can register here for the free event or just check out the store’s listing.
Lilly Pulitzer – Saturday, March 12
Get ready to run to your nearest Lily Pulitzer store (or hit them up for some online shopping) because Lunch at Lilly is back! Along with a lip balm set that comes with every purchase, you get more presents with the more you spend. Pick up $200 worth of goods and you get a gold latice bangle, too! Even more comes into the mix as you spend $500, $800 or $1400. For those that are obsessed with Lilly Pulitzer (and probably cleared the racks at Target last year) you get a limited edition pink Lilly bike when you spend $3000. Sorry, buying gift cards for any of those rates doesn’t count. But, according to Racked, if you make a purchase at the 1020 Madison Avenue location in New York City between 10am and 11am, you also get a mystery bonus gift. Still want more? Catch all the details and prizes at LillyPulitzer.com.
Fashion Career Expo – Wednesday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
WWD and Fashionista.com are just two of the career fair’s premier sponsors. If you have two years of fashion industry experience and are looking to get a leg up on what’s out there or just want the promotion you deserve, this is the place to look for it. The Metropolitan Pavilion (123 West 18th Street) will house the entire event in New York City. Recruiters from the likes of Tiffany & CO., Jenny Yoo Collection, Rent The Runway, fourthFLOOR fashion and much more will all be in attendance. Get your $10 entrance ticket on Eventbrite or if you can’t make it, have their resume concierge personally give your resume to any company you choose for $35 (plus a $2.92 fee).
Bloomingdale’s – Thursday, March 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
If you’ve been to the Mall at Short Hills before, you know it’s the capital for all things luxury in New Jersey. (Think Tiffany & CO, Chanel,Cartier, and then some all inside one mall.) Next Thursday, you can preview the Montclair Art Museum’s upcoming “MAM: The Flowering- Art in Bloom” exhibit in-store at Bloomingdales as well as enjoy a fashion show! Fashion and art collaborations made by local artists/designers will all be on display.
The Jewish Museum – Friday, March 18
We all know Isaac Mizrahi for his beautiful clothes as well as his T.V. appearances. (Remember his cameo in Sex and the City, hosting role for The Fashion Show on Bravo or Project Runway: All Stars?!) Well, now the designer is getting his own exhibit at the Jewish Museum (1109 5th Ave at 92nd Street) in New York City! It will cover every part of his 30-year career, including his very first collection, costume designs, acting and more. Catch it on display before it closes on August 7.
Happy Fri-YAY! If you attend any of these events, please share it by tagging @JaclynSaumell or #StylisticReaction. I can’t wait to see it!
