If you’re like me and need nickel-free earrings or necklaces, finding pieces you love can be tricky. We were born with an inclination for the good stuff – all diamonds and gemstones will do. But, this doesn’t always agree with a twenty-something woman’s wallet. So, here are a few brands and pieces to take the guesswork out:
Yes, the same brand that launched a NYFW show with members of the general population in the audience also has your health in mind. Step into a nearby Macy’s or Lord & Taylor to find bold pieces perfect for that special night out.
As soon as the sales woman told me every piece of the fast-fashion store’s jewelry was nickel-free, I was ecstatic and picked up a pair of geometric beauties (see above.) Just because your skin knows you deserve the best doesn’t meant it has to come with a huge price tag. While perusing my local Charming Charlie recently, I found a few trendy watches for $18, necklaces for around the same price and ring sets for $10. Need I say more?

The Olsen twins also have you covered. I checked out their products on a few sites and “nickel free” popped up regularly within the product descriptions. While these pieces are priced higher than something you may find at Forever21, they can still run under $100 and have classic/fun designs that should fit well in any collection.
This is one brand that I have never had a problem with. I now own two pairs of their earrings (one is shown above), two necklaces, two bangles and countless accessories. (You can thank the nearby Coach outlet’s regular extra 30 or 50 percent off sales for that one!) When in doubt, simply ask the sales person and he or she will find out its materials for you. Most pieces are chic with a few funky ones in between. It is Coach after all.
Not sure if the brand you’ve been eyeing is falls into this hypoallergenic category? When in doubt, simply ask a salesperson, check the company’s F.A.Q. or talk to them through the customer service chat online.
