Although New York Fashion Week is over for now, nothing says we have to stop talking about it. And the one presentation I still catch myself looking at is Kate Spade’s Spring 2016 collection. As always, the looks were an inspirational mix of sophisticated styles with unexpected pops of color and materials. There were striped sequin black-and-white skirts, a navy and white sweater with “ooh la la” along the bottom (which I still crave for my closet), a long sleeve pink floral shirt dress fit for the office and colorful striped shorts similar to what you would see at J.Crew. But what really caught my attention were the bags! Known for her kitchy accessories, the brand brought out a purse shaped like a tea pot and another shaped like an admit one ticket! Of course, classic staples like a black and white clutch were still in the mix. But, there were some items I wasn’t a fan of: A yellow and black dress with a huge bow along the waist and this pink patterned dress with a multi-ruffle skirts were among them. Both reminded me of a twenty-something person dressing up her 10-year-old sister. We all need some whimsy in our lives but those two would not be my first choice.
