Two weekends ago I spent three glorious days in Paris! While I looked everywhere from Versaille to the Champs-Élysées, I could not find anything within the city of Fashion that unique and within my price range. Like most global cities, Paris is now filled with H&M, McDonalds and the like. Of course it did not help that I stayed close to the tourist spots and was blinded by the memories wonderful Chanel.
But I did find a few items that will have a lasting impression. In the past, fashion and mugs have been my longstanding collection of items from my travels. However, being that I have to fly back home in a few months, the weight of mugs would be slightly too much. Therefore, I switched to a few little things that caught my eye. In this case, it has turned to pictures, pamphlets and a few small trinkets from the now many places I have visited.
Until last week, I had a fear of heights that paris helped to subside when I went up to the absolute summit of the tower. For this reason, I made sure to buy a few little things to commemorate the trip.
But fashion is not the only to be stylish. In fact most of the people in Paris dressed similar to those in London or New York – just a slightly more post version of themselves. McDonalds sold macaroons after all. So, I took to the more cultural aspects for inspiration.
While in Paris I took a boat tour around the river Seine, visited the Notre Dame and Sacré-Cœur (Sacred Heart Church) for mindful reflection, experienced the splendor of Versailles, stared in wonder at the Mona Lisa in The Louvre and just looked upon the city.
There is more to life than just fashion, and experiencing it from one’s own eyes can never hurt. It allows you to widen your perspective and see all that life has to offer. With that said, looking your best while you do so can be an added bonus. You know I always try.
Of course I did sneak a peak at a few places along the way.
Including the new ad for Tiffany & Co., the storefronts for Cartier, Louis Vuitton and of course the lovely Chanel.
Remember to take a step back and enjoy what life has to show you.
Happy shopping and travels.
